The Emissary was created by London-based Ed Smith in 2018, who had become a little disillusioned with all the mass-produced, sub-standard Prosecco that seemed to have flooded the UK market.
Having spent a lot of time in Northern Italy, Ed knew that there were a lot of delicious Proseccos out there, it’s just that not many of them seemed to be making their way to our shores. So he went on a mission and found a 3rd generation, family run vineyard who poured all their years of experience and passion into making the most superb Prosecco. And so The Emissary was born!
We have two products: a DOC Extra Brut, made with 85% Glera and 15% Pinot Grigio grapes, which is extremely dry, light and refreshing; and our recently launched DOCG, made with 85% Glera and 15% Chardonnay grapes. This is made from the finest, hand-picked grapes on the vineyard and has the DOCG stamp of approval from the Italian authorities, indicating the highest level of quality. It is a little fuller-bodied than the DOC but still very light and dry, with fruity and floral notes and a round, gentle finish.
Both our Proseccos are 100% vegan, low in sugar and made using sustainable methods (our vineyard has SQNPI certification and uses an integrated chemical and herbicide-free production system, and a water system that minimises waste and preserves biodiversity).
