Top five ideas to boost team morale during lockdown

The best ideas to virtually take care of your team
With new UK lockdown restrictions in play again, keeping team spirits high has never been more important. Coming up with creative and interesting ways to engage employees is so important to boost morale and maintain company culture - plus it’s fun! No more Zoom quizzes - here are our top five ideas to virtually take care of your team’s happiness this winter lockdown!
Fitness classes
Keep your team moving! Why not organise a weekly virtual fitness class? Exercise is a fantastic way of getting everybody together and acts as a stress reliever. We recommend trying no equipment classes like HIIT, Yoga or Pilates for a living room friendly workout that everyone can enjoy. MrandMrs Muscle or Yoga With Adriene on YouTube are some of our favourites! To kick off these active plans, gift your team a protein packed snack box, perfect for making sure they have fitness friendly snacks for a post workout treat.
Virtual social events
Get the team together for a virtual social event after work! Scheduling in time for socialising will help to keep everyone feeling connected whilst working from home and is an ideal icebreaker for new employees. We are all a little tired of the traditional Zoom quiz so consider something more interactive: an immersive Apprentice-style competition or even a UK Startup Food & Drink tasting, make sure your team are well stocked with the best of British nibbles, drinks and snacks! Adding in a competitive element could be fun too - why not do cocktail-making and run a best cocktail competition? Our alcohol-free cocktail making kit is perfect for midweek and you would award the winners a fun Working from Home snack delivery!

Cookery class
Host a virtual cookery class to counter the midweek WFH slump! Send out the ingredients and invite the team to cook along together. We love this BBQ Bao Kit for an easy way to create authentic filled baos in 30 minutes. It even comes with a step by step guide from School of Wok! A Ready Steady Cook is another silly way of getting the team cooking together, send out ten random products from Mighty Small, set a timer for 30 minutes and see who can come up with the best recipe!
Alternatively, a CSR friendly option would be to support our friends at Foodcycle! On Saturday 5th December, chef Ben Tish is hosting a Sicilian-inspired class with all proceeds donated to FoodCycle. Migrateful also offers a wide range of virtual cookery classes, exploring cuisines from all over the world!
Support mental health
Support employee mental health! We’re all human and times are increasingly tough with the darker, colder days and new lockdown rules. If wellness is low and the team are finding things difficult, let them know they’re supported and provide information on services they can use. Our ‘Thinking Of You’ box is the perfect way of starting the conversation. We have sent hundreds of employee care packages which employers then follow up with a wellness session. This is an opportunity for team members to share their challenges in an open forum, over a cup of tea, and for others to support them - a great way to maintain open lines of communication and team bonding. The Mental Health Foundation has more practical tips to share.
Care Packages
Send out a care package! Gifting is a thoughtful pick-me-up and shows that you’re thinking of them. Whether it’s as a thank you, well done or just a surprise, our employee home gift boxes are bespoke, cater to all diets and are the perfect foodie present to send your team and make them feel special and cared for this lockdown. We even include a handwritten note to give the perfect personal touch! We can turn these around in as little as 24 hours so email support@mighty-small.co.uk to learn more and share your needs.
