Dry January - Mighty Small’s Must Haves
The best non-alcoholic drinks to help you go sober!
What is Dry January?
Dry January is the UK’s month long alcohol free challenge, participants going sober during January and the nationwide campaign encouraging people to build healthier drinking habits!
Launched in 2013 after its founder, Emily Robinson, gave up alcohol during her marathon training, it has seen an enormous rise in popularity. In 2020 over 100,000 people signed up officially, with estimates of a total of 4 million going sober during January across the UK!
Why do it?
A fuller wallet is just one of many reasons to try being alcohol free for the month! According to Alcohol Change UK, those who go sober experience:
Improved health and wellbeing
-Lower blood pressure and cholesterol.
-Reduced diabetes risk.
-Generally improved health.
-Increased energy levels.
-Healthier relationship with drinking throughout the year.
-Reduced chances of developing health issues associated with excessive drinking.
If you’re looking to kickstart a healthy 2021, or simply want to cut down your drinking for the month, find out more about the official challenge with Alcohol Change UK.
Mighty Small’s Dry January must haves!
Going sober can be tough, especially after the year we’ve all had but...fear not, Dry January doesn’t mean you have to miss out! Whether it’s beer, mocktails, spirits or something more special you’re after, at Mighty Small we boast a wide range of low & no alcoholic drinks - perfect for going alcohol free.
Here’s a run through of our Dry January must haves, so those of you partaking can still enjoy a tipple whenever you feel like it!
One of our favourites, Freestar’s award winning alcohol free beer is a light and refreshing IPA-style lager. It’s also gluten free and 100% vegan, making it an absolute essential for those undertaking the double challenge of Veganuary and Dry Jan!
Next up is Lucky Saint’s alcohol free lager, left unfiltered for maximum flavour. Smooth and biscuity with a hint of citrus hop, it's only 53 calories per bottle - our go to for a healthier non-alcoholic drink option.
Inspired by the vibrancy of South America, Caleño’s non alcoholic spirits are a must have for Dry Jan cocktails!
Their Light & Zesty flavour, infused with juniper, citrus and spice botanicals, is a popular option. Simply serve over ice with tonic or pair with Nix & Kix’s Blood Orange and Turmeric soft drink for a punchier mixer.
Caleño’s newest addition, Dark & Spicy is rich and flavourful, making a great non-alcoholic substitute for cocktails that call for dark rum! We also love adding it to ginger beer for an alcohol free drink with real kick.
This one is for the gin fanatics - Dalston’s Rhubarb G&T blends rhubarb juice and bitter quinine in a nod to the traditional cocktail, just without the alcohol! Even better, at only 50 calories per can it’s a delicious alternative for those on a health kick this January.
